Sporting club Rīga was founded in 1999. Its main goal is as more as possible involve in sporting activities youth, students and local residents of city, as well as provide possibility for more talented children to develop their skills in chosen kind of sport and to progress their mastery.

Sporting Club Rīga is supporting professional teams in ice hockey, basketball, football and voleyball. Also individual, popular kinds of sport: shooting and rowing. More talented young sportsmen are already fulfilling existing professional teams, also representatives of individual kinds of sport are making name of Rīga known and popular across the borders of country.

There are three teams under name of Rīga – Rīga 2000, Rīga 20 and Rīga 18 . All teams are Latvia champions in their age brackets.Latvian U-18 and U-20 teams who consist SK "Riga" palayers, win World championship first league. Main team Rīga 2000 is also contending in Europe Continental Cup and Belarus open championships. 2006 Riga 2000 won bronze in Belarus open championships! In 2004 was approved Children and Youth Ice Hockey Programme what is also doing well today.

Football club FK Rīga is participating in Latvia Premier league championships. Team is Latvia cup winner in 1999. In 2004 in Premier league FK Rīga finished sixth. In February of 2005 in Education, Youth and Sport Committee of Rīga municipality (dome) was approved Children and Youth Football Programme what will be in action till 2008.

Under authority of Sporting Club Rīga is the most well known abbreviation of Latvia 's sport in world – TTT. TTT/ Rīga are Latvia champions from 2001 till 2005. Team is also participating in Baltic women league and international tournaments. Either cooperation with men basketball club BK Rīga is started.
